Project Piura

Plaza de Armas, Piura, Peru

Welcome to my blog! This blog is all about my work, travel, and life in Peru this summer. I will be working with my mom to launch three projects related to International Education in Piura, Peru. We will be working in cooperation with our schools in the U.S. and Santismo Sacramento Parish in Piura.

Piura is located in Northwestern Peru, about 40 minutes from the coast and 2 hours from the Ecuadorian border. Piura is called "ciudad del eterno calor
or "City of eternal heat" because it is hot all year round :)

We will be working at a school called Madre del Buen Consejo (Mother of Good Counsel). This school was founded 3 years ago by Padre Joseph Uhen. It is a pre-K-12 school (inicial, primaria, secundaria) with about 700 students and 3 principals. These are the 3 projects:

1.Assist teachers at school in integrating technology into their curriculum to better differentiate instruction.
2. Establish a two-way immersion classroom between an Engish Class at Madre del buen consejo and a Spanish class at my school in the U.S.
3. Teach girls at a local orphanage/school basic computer skills that will make them more hire-able when they complete high school.

Accomplishing all three projects in a span of 2 months may be unrealistic, but we'll try anyway. We will be staying at Parroquia Santismo Sacramento- a Parish in Piura.

We will be leaving a month. Currently we're preparing the 15 laptops, 4 projectors, and 15 speakers for the journey.
